Hypostatic: Why You Need Jesus Even More Than You Think
Jun 21, 2026 • Dr. Jeremy McMorris
Summary: Jesus is the Savior we need because He is both fully God and fully man. In Luke 3:21–38, Luke presents Jesus as the Son of God at His baptism and the Son of Man through His human lineage. As God, Jesus possesses the wisdom, power, and righteousness necessary to save sinners. As man, He experienced the sorrows, temptations, struggles, and sufferings of human life and is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. The doctrine known as the hypostatic union teaches that Jesus is one person with two natures—fully divine and fully human. Because He has both the ability and the empathy to help us, we can confidently trust Him for salvation and every need of life.
